Stop
In 2015 I was asked to temporarily replace the University of Washington IVA technician while she took maternity leave. During the course of the year I came to know and love the students and happily contributed this woodblock print to a portfolio they created called Bloated, UW Print Exchange 2017. The project was organized by student Sandra Lemus and contains a mix of prints made by students and instructors. Stop is a two block print, the second block is die cut in a circle and stitched in place allowing the “earth” shape to spin. The rabbits reference over-population. The edition is varied by the collage element at the top of the print, remnants of a previously destroyed woodcut. Edition 30, plus proofs. 10” x 7” bleed print signed and numbered on the back.
