Sally Schuh/Gertrude Stein:
Work in Progress
Please join artist Sally Schuh and printer Sheila Coppola for a conversation about the making of Beautiful: A portfolio of five etchings based on the writing of Gertrude Stein.
Saturday February 9th, 2008 from1:00-3:00 p.m. at Sidereal Fine Art Press.
Sally Schuh received a Special Projects Grant from 4Culture and a City Artist Grant from the Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs, to work one-on-one with printer Sheila Coppola to create a suite of etchings based on the writing of Gertrude Stein.
Sally and Sheila will discuss how the collaborative relationship of artist and printer nurtures the artistic working process and the final prints.
This is a wonderful opportunity to see these prints in progress as the project unfolds. Like a writer’s written draft, working print proofs are the materialization of the artistís creative process - a visual diary that documents conceptual and technical choices and illustrates the creative process in a singularly engaging and fascinating way.
